Jonas Aras began playing music at the age of 5 and started playing professionally at the age of 15.

He attended Cal State University Northridge and later studied with Terry Trotter, Alan Pasqua, Brad Mehldau, Bill Cunliffe and bebop legend Barry Harris.  In March 2012 he achieved graduate status from the The Equal Interval System(EIS) with the mentorship of David Blumberg, Tim Torrance, Craig Sharmat and Michael Mitacek.

In addition to being a sought after pianist, audio engineer and teacher, Jonas is also an accomplished jazz accordionist.  His credits include composing for Paramount Pictures, Star Trek, Hallmark Channel, HGTV, Animal Planet, The Steve Harvey Show, TLC, “American Weed” and “The Double” featuring Richard Gere.

Performances and recordings include working with Latin jazz legend Justo Almario, Andrae Crouch, Jerry Watts, Bob Wilson, John Ferraro, Sergio Gonzalez, David “Fingers” Haynes, Peter Michael Escovedo III, Ronnie Gutierrez, and Tommy Walker of his home church, Christian Assembly in Eagle Rock, CA.
